7200P Portable Dual Audio Cassette Recorders

Portable Interview Recorder Tape recorded interview evidence is the most effective and impartial method of gathering interview evidence to the courts, unlike hand written notes, which can often be disputed. NEAL Recorders offer total protection by providing a complete record of accounts which is irrefutable, therefore ensuring that your case will be successful. NEAL Portable Interview Recorders comprise two identical audio cassette recording transport mechanisms engineered to perform consistently over an extended life.
Ease of Use

Ease of Operation The portable Interview Recorder is simplicity itself to operate with single, one-touch "record" and "stop" buttons. The tape timer displays the total time elapsed in minutes since "Record" has been selected. This ensures quick and accurate location and replay of recorded material when transcribing or reviewing a recording.

Impartiality The two simultaneous recordings provide a master copy and one working copy which can later be used for transcription and duplication for the defence. At the end of the interview, the master tape is signed by both parties for authenticity. This method is truly the most impartial way of recording interviews and is for the benefit of both investigator and suspect/interviewee.

Time Stamping Supplied with the unique NEAL speaking clock which adds time and date to recordings. This means that every recording can be fully authenticated beyond any doubt whenever necessary.

{short description of image} Proven Reliability Unique to all NEAL systems are cassette mechanisms designed and manufactured to rigid performance and quality standards entirely-in house. NEAL audio recorders have been successfully adopted by every UK police force, many Government bodies for investigative interviews and many commercial organisations.

Specifications Recording Level Control - Automatic, indicated by LEDs illuminating at typical speech levels (green) and occasional peaks (red). Tape Speed - 4.76 cm/sec Control Functions - Positive-click "Record" and "Stop" buttons to activate both recording transport mechanisms simultaneously. Time Stamp Format:

  • Model 7221P: GMT (24 hours format) giving year, month, date, hours, minutes and seconds as spoken announcements every 10 seconds.
  • Model 7224P: Elapsed time of interview, ("time into interview") as spoken announcement every 10 seconds.
Security Features - No erase, rewind or fast-forward functions are provided. This ensures strict integrity of the recording, preventing the interviewer from having the facility to edit a recording during the course of an interview. The provision of GMT or elapsed-time signals also provides affirmation that no selection has been applied to the recording process. Visual (LED) Alarm - Indicates when 45 minutes' recording time remains while the recorder is running from a rechargeable battery, and continues until recharge, or reconnection to mains. Audio Alarm - sounds:
  • For 7 seconds after the record button is pressed (to ensure that no part of the recording is lost on the leader tapes)
  • For 1 second, when 2 minutes' running time or less remains on either tape (detected by sensor irrespective of cassette tape length).
  • If either tape jams or reaches its end
  • If the auto-monitoring systems detects no signal on either channel for 60 seconds. In the event of no alarm, you are guaranteed to obtain two successful and simultaneous recordings.
Eject Interlock - Eject mechanisms are electromagnetically interlocked to prevent accidental ejection while recording is in progress. Recording Integrity - Both transport mechanisms are controlled by inter-connected logic circuits to provide identical parallel operation and to stop both mechanisms if a fault occurs in either.
